MTSU defeats Tennessee Tech

An eventful home opener to start the season.

A game that was scheduled to kick off at 6:30 ended up being delayed two hours due to inclement weather. As the Blue Raiders and the Golden Eagles began their warmups lightning was spotted in the area forcing both teams to rush back to their locker rooms. Because of the downpour of rain and the lightning, all fans were told to exit the stands and take shelter underneath the bleachers.

After the two hour delay and the majority of fans having gone home, the announcement was made that football was still on. Still drizzling at this point, the fans with and without ponchos took their place in the stand to cheer on their Blue Raiders.

The game started off smooth for the Blue Raiders, as they went up 21-0, until the Golden Eagles forced a safety and scored a field goal before the end of the half, making the score 21-5.

The Golden Eagles would carry their momentum from the last couple minutes of the 1st half into the 2nd half, scoring 3 touchdowns as the Blue Raiders responded with only a field goal.

Then in the 4th quarter, being down 24-25 with only 1 minute to go, the Blue Raiders marched 70 yards down the field, capping the drive off with a 30-yard touchdown run by Frank Peasant. After a successful two-point conversion the Blue Raiders ended the game with a score of 32-25.

With much room for improvement the Blue Raiders will travel to face 6th ranked Ole Miss.
