The Titans defeated In Detroit

The Tennessee Titans (1-6) lost 52-14 to the Lions (6-1) in Detroit

The Titans started Mason Rudolph as quarterback for the second week in a row due to Will Levis’ shoulder injury.

In the first half of the game, the Titans scored two touchdowns, with one coming off a 10-yard run by Mason Rudolph and the other off a 5-yard touchdown pass that was caught by wide receiver Nick Westbrook-Ikhine to tie up the game 14-14

After the Titans’ second touchdown of the game, the Lions went on to score three more touchdowns before the end of the half to take control of the game 35-14

Titans wide receiver Calvin Ridley had a monster first half with six receptions for 118 yards, for him to only get four more receptions during the three remaining quarters of the game.

Coming out of halftime, the Titans weren’t able to get anything done as the Lions controlled the second half. The Lions increased their lead with a punt return for a touchdown, a passing touchdown, and a field goal to make the score 52-14 before the fourth quarter.

The Lions showed mercy on the Titans in the fourth as they took their foot off the gas, but the Titans continued to struggle and were unable to put any points on the board.

Takeaways

The Bad: The Titans continue to struggle with turnovers as they had four this week against the Lions, with those turnovers giving the Lions great field position, which made an easy day for Jared Goff as he went 12/15 for 85 yards and three touchdown passes. The Titans also gave up a passing touchdown to Lions running back David Montgomery

The Good: After the trade of DeAndre Hopkins, the Titans seemed to be reminded of their off-season addition of wide receiver Calvin Ridley. Ridley recorded 11 receptions for 143 receiving yards with the majority of that yardage being in the first quarter.

The Titans’ defensive line got to Jared Goff four times in this game, with sacks from Arden Key (2), Jeffery Simmons (1), and cornerback Roger McCreary (1).

The Titans’ offense struggled once again, which has consitently hurt the Tennessee defense.

The Titans’ defense should be ranked as one of the best in the league, but due to how often they are on the field, they’ve given up 80-plus points in the past two weeks.
