Lions defeat Packers in Green Bay

The Detroit Lions (7-1) won 24-14 against the Green Bay Packers (6-3) in a rainy game at Lambeu Field

The Packers scored the only points in the first quarter with a 30 yard field goal by Brandon McManus to take the first lead of the game.

The Lions completely controlled the second quarter as they scored three times. Amon-Ra St. Brown caught a three yards pass for a touchdown to get the Lions their first points of the day. Then with a 27 yard field goal by Jessie Bates the Lions increased their lead to 7, and with only 30 seconds remaining in the first half cornerback Kirby Joseph intercepted a pass from quarterback Jordan Love and ran it back to the Packers endzone for a pick six to give the Lions a 14 point lead going into halftime.

To start of the second half of the game the Lions scored another touchdown with a 15 yard run by Jamyr Gibbs to increase their lead to 21 points. The Packers kicked a field goal with less than a minute left in the third quarter to cut their deficit to eight points going into the fourth quarter.

With less than four minutes left in the fourth quarter the Packers scored their only touchdown of the day and converted their two-point conversion. The Packers efforts in the fourth quarter just came too late as they lost 24-14 for their third straight loss to the Lions in Lambeu Field.

For the second week in a row the Lions have had less yardage than their opponent, but have still come out with the win. The Lions have been very efficient with their scoring opportunities and Jared Goff has been excellent for Detroit. Goff went 18/22 for 145 yards, 1 touchdown, and zero interceptions. Although Goff’s stats aren’t crazy he has played very clean and efficient football for the Lions.
