Super Bowl 59 Preview

The Kansas City Chiefs (15-2) will face off against the Philadelphia Eagles (14-3) on Sunday, Feb. 9th at 5:30 pm (CST) in the Ceasars Superdome of New Orleans to determine the Super Bowl 59 Champions. The Chiefs are 1.5-point favorites.

In a familiar site but not a fond memory, the Philadelphia Eagles have a shot at redemption against the Chiefs. Only two years ago, the Eagles lost Super Bowl 57 by a score of 38-35. The Eagles were unable to hold onto their lead as Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs scored 17 points in the fourth quarter to secure the Chiefs’ second Super Bowl victory since Mahomes took over as starter.

The Eagles are coming off a dominant win in which they defeated the Washington Commanders 55-23. Philadelphia’s offense was fueled by seven rushing touchdowns, with six coming from the duo of quarterback Jalen Hurts and running back Saquon Barkley. The Eagles signed Barkley in the offseason to a 3-year $37 million dollar contract, and he had a phenomenal regular season with 345 carries for 2,005 rushing yards and 13 rushing touchdowns.

The Chiefs are coming off a win against the Buffalo Bills in another thriller in Arrowhead Stadium. The Chiefs and Bills have become one of the biggest rivalries in the AFC, thanks to Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen. These two meet in the playoffs almost every year, but Allen is still searching for his first victory against Mahomes in the playoffs. Mahomes is 1-4 against Allen and the Bills in the regular season but is undefeated against them in the Playoffs. Mahomes led the way for the Chiefs in their victory with 1 passing touchdown and 2 more touchdowns on the ground.

Back in 2023, the Eagles relied on the run game for the majority of their scores, with Jalen Hurts rushing for 3 scores and passing for one. The Chiefs, on the other hand, had three of their four scores through the air.

The Chiefs rarely give up turnovers, and when the opposing team does, they usually capitalize with a score. If the Eagles are going to win this game, they’ll have to play almost perfect football.
